Aruba and Switzerland sign Open Skies deal.Aruba and Switzerland sign Open Skies deal.

Switzerland and Aruba have signed an Open Skies agreement to enhance air links and commercial opportunities.

The agreement enables carriers from both countries to operate scheduled flights between Aruba and Switzerland, as well as to and from third countries.

The deal is a “strategic move to stimulate growth”, according to a statement from the Department of Civil Aviation Aruba (DCAA).

The traffic rights up to the Fifth Freedom of the Air, as defined by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), allow scheduled commercial airlines to carry passengers or cargo between two nations as part of a service that originates or terminates in their home country.

“The Registry of Aruba proudly supports this important development as part of its mission to foster a globally connected, operator-focused aviation ecosystem,” it added in the statement.
