Following the historic launch of construction at Gelephu International Airport, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Queen Jetsun Pema, and their children—Prince Jigme Namgyel, Prince Jigme Ugyen, and Princess Sonam Yangden—have remained in Gelephu.

While in Gelephu, Their Majesties installed a sachu bumter to consecrate the site of the future Genyen Neykhang in Phulari. The installation of the sachu bumter (a ceremonial vase) signifies the sanctification of a sacred site. Phulari is a Buddhist site located near Gelephu.

Over a thousand Gyalsups and Desuups form the core of the volunteer workforce, working closely with local construction companies to carry out essential earthworks ahead of the main phase of airport construction. The Royal Family also visited the Gyalsung Academy site, currently under construction in Tareythang.
