We spent years arguing about Brexit, but now that there’s lorry chaos – no one mentions it | The Independent

  1. Did not think this current problem had anything to do with brexit and everything to do with a whole fleet of ships not running.

  2. Add this:

    > PRESSURE is mounting on the BBC after the broadcaster was accused of editing out a reference to Brexit in a clip about food shortages.
    >
    >Anger erupted after a segment aired on BBC Scotland’s The Seven and Reporting Scotland appeared to cut out the speaker’s mentions of Brexit amid a discussion on the impact of food shortages.

    And:

    > In one story published in February, the BBC reported on the “major staff recruitment and retention challenges” facing NHS Scotland, highlighted by an Audit Scotland report.
    >
    >The article quoted Scottish Tory health spokesperson Dr Sandesh Gulhane as saying: “There are huge vacancies across the health service yet we can’t fill them because we don’t have enough trained people to do so.”
    >
    >However, there was no mention of the staffing challenges being linked to Brexit, despite the Audit Scotland document in question explicitly highlighting how it and previous reports showed “the UK’s departure from the EU could further reduce the pool of workers available”.

    >([*BBC accused of airbrushing Brexit ‘out of existence’ in politics reports*](https://www.thenational.scot/news/20060758.bbc-accused-airbrushing-brexit-out-existence-politics-reports/))

  3. I was taking trip’s from Dover to Arnhem over COVID the ferry was packed with lorry’s backwards and forwards so don’t go there there was even tourist so stick this article up your arse

  4. Swear literally all concern about Brexit just magically vanished the moment Boris Johnson beat Corbyn

Prior to the election it was a “MASSIVE DEAL”, and now the same media that blatantly enabled it just ignores all its ill effects

  5. It’s because remainers are sick of saying told you so

    And

Brexiteers are off somewhere burying their heads in the sands.

  6. Who are all these neurotic losers losing their heads over a temporary lorry queue at a port?

    Do they even have jobs?

Their gas and electricity bill is about to be £400 per month, worry about that.

  7. These queues have been caused by the P&O closure and a train breakdown though?

Why are they making out it’s all brexit-paperwork related?!

Edit: People downvoting me as if I’ve said “Brexit is great” or something

  8. simple Tory controlled media, mainstream or otherwise. The level of control they have would make Goebbels jealous.

  9. >Anger erupted after a segment aired on BBC Scotland’s The Seven and Reporting Scotland appeared to cut out the speaker’s mentions of Brexit amid a discussion on the impact of food shortages.

No surprise here – BBC Scotland is probably the wost of the BBC arms when it comes to biased coverage, not just on account of it being a mouthpiece for the government, but also having to constantly fight off the independence movement.

Independence supporters have been complaining about it for years

  10. If only we had an opposition that had the guts to mention brexit in a context other than “MaKe BrExIt WoRk”.

Farmers are panicking about staff shortages again: https://www.farminguk.com/news/farms-in-perilous-situation-due-crippling-labour-shortages_60182.html

The silence is deafening. Yes I know it’s going to upset some brexit voters, but once you’ve got them to eventually accept brexit is a disaster and that they were sold a total lemon there’ll be a lot of angry voters.

  11. Jesus, if this is Reddit NOT talking about brexit I’d hate to see it if it was. Several times a day someone is moaning about it. From both sides.

  12. Because its effects are lobster boiling and not the prophesised apocalypse, and thus hard for people to give a shit about

  13. No one mentions it?

It’s mentioned every waking hour of the day on this sub. If someone’s NOT mentioning Brexit that’s the surprise not someone mentioning it

  14. I’m fully aware of the lorry queues and even mentioned the ferry delays to a friend heading to France on Friday.
I’m convinced he’s going to get stranded for days.

And yea it’s Brexit no matter how the Tory media tries to hide it

  15. The media have made complete fools of themselves selling the dream of brexit. Their complete silence on the word now is because the only honest thing to do would be to rip into brexit and show it up for the shitshow that it is.
But they don’t want to admit they were wrong.
