  1. Exhibit A in why I hate a lot of people. It’s great to see the tree fight back.

  2. The two men convicted of this are due to be sentenced today. I’m very eager to hear how long they will serve.

  3. It’s just so so so so effing stupid that those absolute spanners just decided “hey wanna cut down that tree?”

    Absolutely brainless

  4. Last week, I went to see *28 Years Later* at the cinema. It is set in the north of England and – at one point – there is a shot of Sycamore Gap and the tree is still *in situ*. This surprised me because the tree was cut down in 2023.

Filming started in May 2024 – according to [wikipedia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/28_Years_Later). So they must have used CGI to insert the tree.

  5. As fucking moronic as it was to cut down that tree and public sentiment is strongly against these two fucktards, it was, however, a tree. Career criminals and people convicted of serious crimes get reduced sentences and parole.

  6. Won’t take long for some idiot to come along and snap them off.

  7. The fact that this was just a spur-of-the-moment decision makes it even more infuriating. Those two deserve every second of the sentence they get. It’s wild how one stupid choice can destroy something that stood for centuries.

  8. Possibly unpopular opinion, but even though they did a very dumb thing, compared to the sentences that other monstrous offences get in the UK at times, I don’t think they should receive a massive sentence for cutting down a tree. Punishment should be fair and just

  9. The two that did this were in their 30s and one of them had a baby. And they cut down the tree for social media clout… Let that sink in

  10. It’s already been cut down, the last thing it needs is to be shot at

  11. Sycamore’s are bloody hard to kill, as any gardener could tell you.

  12. We have clever and skilled people to make a fake tree identical to the one what was lost.
