So i am located and living in germany and i got this text today. It's a UK number and i know this is some sort of scam i guess but how or what would this scam out of me? All this did was confuse me.

Is this like a normal spam text to get? I got tons of those texts saying "Hallo Papa das ist meine Neue Nummer" But this is puzzles me. If somebody could explain the thought behind this weird message that would be cool.

Translated it says: "Hey! Can I talk to you for a bit? I need to explain a scientific theory to you."

  1. Just never engage with them, it’s in any way will turn into scam…, it’s now endless messaging from all possible ways, fake deliveries, fake interpol phone calls, fake emails, these “i got a wrong number and you are so nice, let’s be friends”, all of it is a scam, they are looking for different ways to start talking to you and using their “creativity” to start long going “friendship” and then lure you into any ways of crypto scheme…

  2. Probably some sort of „join my telegram group and spend money to find out!“

No need to understand or engage with scammers. Just block and move on.

They’re trying to lure you into a conversation and later get you to invest money. It’s a so-called “wrong number” scam and very common.

They don’t care if millions of people just delete the text – all it takes is one person engaging with them and trusting the scammer enough to send over their savings. Often, damages can be in the 10k-100k range.

  4. Wrong number scam, where the person behind, which likely sits in a country like Myanmar, will pretend to have contacted the wrong number but keep the conversation active to in reality lure you into a romance scam.

Just delete without a comment or if you do want to mess with them, waste their time (but keep in mind that this will likely cause more scammers to contact you since they now know your number is active). And also keep in mind that this might cost you money unless it’s iMessage.

  5. From a UK number, not from the UK. Huge difference. 😂. if you know, you know

  6. I’ve gotten a number of those from India, Tunisia and other places. Report it on WhatsApp and block.

  7. Basic principle of absurd scams: if you’re dumb enough to message back, you‘re much more likely to be dumb enough to send them money. They’re always obvious on purpose so that people with common sense who wouldn’t send money don’t waste the scammer’s time.

  8. This one is new to me. But pretty clearly some kind of scam, yes.

  9. i got one just one hour ago that says “ich möschte mit dir über ein Projekt sprechen” and also it is from the UK +44
