Criminalising cannabis ‘simply doesn’t work’ – People Before Profit TD

  1. Predictable PBP is predictable.

They have been dodging shite for weeks after RBB doubled down on some really stupid positions.

So what do they do? Wheel out the aul “Let’s legalise it fellow kids!!” trope again to try and get some support back or limit damage.

It should be legal… But this bullshit tactic isn’t going to do PBP any favors.

  2. Cannabis prohibition supports a number of rackets – donations to the poor box (which are distributed to charities chosen by the judges themselves), addiction services (court mandated), gardai overtime (for attending court cases), solicitors, the alcohol industry. A legal cannabis market would ruffle a lot of feathers.

  3. Fuck PBP.

Regardless of your opinion on whether cannabis needs to be legalized/decriminalized/or whatever to fuck, these guys need to be binned.

  4. We legalise it, there’s shops selling it then PBP will be moaning about the shops making money……..

  5. And for the 1000th time, people agree yet nothing gets done. Wake me up when a politician makes a claim like this and then actually does it

  6. The State owned Cannabis company with unionised growers charging €200 for a gram of weed that takes two weeks to deliver and four if Seamus is on annual leave.

  7. People Before Profit pulling out the Rastafarian hats and Bob Marley T-shirts after having a fucking nightmare on the most basic of foreign policy questions the last two months.

Student Union party for crusty gobshites.

  8. PBP can all go and get fucked – desperately trying to make up for the shitshow that was and is supporting Putin’s invasion and the butchering of Ukrainians. Absolute shower of cunts this lot.

  9. Canada legalized marijuana several years ago. And you want to know what happened? Nothing. Nothing happened. The society didn’t collapse, crime didn’t soar, and youth didn’t suddenly become drug addicts. After the initial excitement it’s become just another sundry on the grocery list like beer, potatoes, and fabric softener.

  10. The simple question is: how can a substance, widely studied and shown to have plenty of benefits, be illegal when two legal substances, tobacco and alcohol, are shown to be far more damaging on health and society as a whole? Legalise it, tax it and free up the gards to do proper police work ffs.
