MENOMONIE, Wis. (WEAU) – A big milestone was celebrated Tuesday in the area: 100 years of Johnson Motors Menomonie.
To mark the centennial, a ribbon cutting and customer appreciation event was held Tuesday at the business on the city’s northside.
General Manager Jeff Johnson says the business has been successful through hard work and taking care of its customers. He says it all started with a garage in Star Prairie.
“So, the first generation was a mechanic who worked on cars and worked his way up through and was able to take the ownership rights of the dealership. Then, over the course of three generations, you have nothing but hard work and taking care of customers and making some right strategic decisions along the way,” said Johnson.
Johnson says the business always wants to be a community first operation.
To mark 100 years, the company is giving away $15,000 to five area non-profit organizations.
Johnson Motors has other dealerships in New Richmond and St. Croix Falls.
