i think that makes sense. Even at the height of the pandemic it was really hard to grasp how serious the situation is, as long as you didn’t work in the health care sector or something related. It’s invisible this way.
the proble with rising prices on the other hand, are much easier to grasp and you feel the consequences right away.
Most people have had covid so it’s hardly surprising.
This isn’t surprising. Especially with multiple vaccines, most people aren’t at significant risk from COVID. Whereas the spike in living costs affects most of the population.
Not surprising. The vaccines etc sure. But also if you can’t pay for heating you’re going to be cold which in turn can make you more prone to catching things. If you can’t pay for your mortgage you can end up homeless in which case covid is the least of your worries.
Sadly the world is set up in such a way that without money you’re completely fucked.
Now we have a vaccine the number of people who are still at risk due to being clinically vulnerable is around 1 million. They are a minority, probably only 1 in 20 households have such a vulnerable person in them so its not a big vote winner nor a big issue for 95% of people. Of course leaving 5% behind like this is going to breed quite a lot of unhappiness that will never leave them, they will remember how society dumped them to “get back to normal” forever. But then when has anyone in Britain ever cared about the disabled. No one wants any even tiny inconvenience to try and ensure someone else can live.
No shit. I don’t know why covid is still getting column space
In the real world (ie off reddit), seems hardly anyone has been bothered about covid since around mid 2021 or maybe earlier. Bit of survivor bias I guess, since outdoors or working manual jobs, you’re more likely to run into people who don’t care that much, because the ones who are still super into covid are at home.
Lockdown bandits have gone from hitting their sauce pans in worship of the NHS back their old pagan god of climate change. The poor are picking up the cost of china’s C19.
I work 40 hours a week on minimum wage and I cannot afford to live.
After rent and bills I have NOTHING. I don’t have a car, I haven’t bought clothes in over a year or shoes even though my trainers have holes in them
What am I supposed to do? Seriously?
I have fucking had it.
I am now in debt with my energy company as well as council tax totalling £1000.
WHAT THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO
Edit: I have removed the stuff about my mental health as It’s not really pertinent, and just upsets me more when I look at it.
Thanks for the links guys I do actually feel a little better already and having a plan in place will really help with the stress of it all. Take care all
Had the governments all around the world , most especially China restricted ALL international travels in the very beginning, we wouldn’t have this pandemic.
About to see a generatiom of cognitive decline. It will get worse.
Of course they are unless you were old, had underlying health issues or were fat then covid really had little to no risk to you. I had it twice, as did my other half both times it was a runny nose. Pretty much the case for everyone I know.
There of course we’re outliers who got it and it fucked them up yes, but that’s the case with literally every virus out there.
However if you can’t put food on your table or a roof over your head that to most people is much more likely to kill you or do some real damage.
Maybe cos a lot of us have had it already. Obviously I know you can catch it again and I still wear masks on public transport. But hell, I can’t blame most people for worrying where their next meal will come from more than the virus we’ve been living alongside for nearly 3 years.
