The women’s junior handball team quickly overcame the defeat to Hungary and advanced in style to the quarterfinals of the European Championship in Podgorica.

Montenegro defeated the Czech Republic 36:29, and finished the main round in second place after Denmark’s victory over Hungary.

The Czechs held on until the score was 9:9, after which a furious game by the young “lionesses” followed.

By halftime, it was 21:14 for Montenegro, which continued to control the score and celebrated convincingly.

Our girls were even plus 13 at one point (35:22)…

The most efficient player with eight goals was Maja Ceklić, seven were scored by Mia Grujić, and five each were scored by Sanja Andrijašević, Elena Mitrović and Ksenija Gašević.

Goalkeeper Vanja Živković also took advantage of the opportunity, making eight saves.

Our team will meet Germany in the quarterfinals, and in the eventual semifinals they would play against Hungary or Denmark.
