  1. 2.2% of claimants were of refugee status, with 0.5% coming from safe routes. That equates to around 176,000 refugees claiming benefits compared to 6.7 million British nationals. What’s surprising is 700,000 EU citizens claiming benefits.

Whatever way you look at these figures the number on benefits is shockingly high. When you throw in pensions the working person is truly fucked.

  2. > Shadow home secretary Chris Philp said the “staggering figures” were “clear proof that the Labour government has lost control of our welfare system”.

    > “Under Kemi Badenoch, we’ve set out a clear, common-sense position. This is about fairness, responsibility and protecting support for those who’ve contributed to this country,” he said.

And there it is, just as the doctor ordered. Nothing to do with us being in charge for the most of the period, but trust us, we now have the solution to the problem we were significant party in creating.

  3. Why was this hidden before? Anything that uses my taxes should be public knowledge.

  4. Know what I think would be a cool statistic to look at?

What portion of the UC benefit bill is for housing costs.

People are looking for ways to slash the benefit bill, I would be very interested to know if rent controls are instated how much that could potentially save on the benefit bill, I suspect it would probably be a larger percentage than if we where to remove every single foreign national from UC, but thats just me.

I wonder if I can have my conservative MP to bang on about that and get that published.

  5. This combined with thousands of Afghans secretly smuggled in might just send the country over the edge this summer
