High temperatures persist across mainland Greece

Temperatures are expected to remain high across mainland Greece on Wednesday, with peaks of up to 38°C in some areas.

A slight drop in temperatures is expected in the north, where there is also a chance of local showers, especially in mountainous regions.

Temperatures will range from 34 to 36°C in Macedonia, Thrace, the Ionian Islands, the Eastern Aegean Islands, the Dodecanese and southern Crete. In other island areas, they will be slightly lower, between 31 and 33°C.

Northern winds are expected, locally reaching force 6 in the eastern mainland and the Aegean Sea.

According to the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, a very high fire risk (category 4) has been issued for the following areas: Attica, Evia, Corinth, Argolida, Lesvos, and Chios.
