***From The Telegraph:***
Immigration will spur the UK’s population to rise faster than any major EU country, figures reveal.
Britain’s population is predicted to increase by 6.8 per cent from 69.6 million [to 74.3 million](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/06/25/mass-migration-town-ons-falling-birth-rate/) by the end of the century, according to the United Nations’ latest predictions.
Only Luxembourg, with a population of 672,000, is expected to rise more, at 10 per cent.
The UN estimates that cumulative net migration to the UK will total 14.3 million by the end of the century, fuelling a population rise.
This is almost double the 7.8 million for France and just under a quarter more than [Germany](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2025/07/06/poland-send-troops-border-germany-block-asylum-seekers/).
Just three of the 27 current EU member states will see their populations increase between now and 2100, the UN’s World Population Prospects 2024 has revealed.
Alongside the 10 per cent projected for Luxembourg, only Sweden (6.7 per cent) and France (2.8 per cent) will see increases.
Immigration is seen as essential by policymakers as it staves off the negative economic consequences of an otherwise dwindling workforce.
Without [positive net migration](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/07/13/diversity-inclusion-experts-skilled-work-visas-poet-blogger/), the UK population would fall by over a quarter to below 50 million by 2100 – roughly what the population was in 1950.
This is because [the average number of children per woman](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/07/01/four-in-ten-babies-born-to-foreign-parents/) is set to plateau well below the 2.1 replacement rate.
The total fertility rate in England and Wales slumped to 1.44 children per woman between 2022 and 2023.
Last year, the UK median age hit 40, which is projected to rise to 47.9 by 2100.
Without migration, where the majority of arrivals tend to be younger, it would reach 50 as early as 2067.

So glad we’ve spent the last 40 years investing in building houses, our infrastructure and we have a healthy economy with plenty of work available for everyone. Look forward to the next 40 years too.
By the end of the “century”. These predictions are practically worthless.
Soooo… how exactly is that boosting the economy? Considering the common excuse for mass migration is that it’s good for the economy
Yet birth rares amongst Brits are on the decline and have been for over a decade.
does anyone feel the country is in a gerontocratic death spiral?
well who would have thought it, and will will hit those numbers in the next ten years…
As others have said, its great that the politicians who allowed this to happen have prepared the country with upgraded road, rail, water & electric services, education and housing, otherwise we could have become 3rd world. And they have looked after the people already living here as a priority too.
I wonder why..
Looking forward to selling my house for an inflated price then retiring abroad. Long live Great Britain
Weird how the tax exile Sir Frederick Barclay chose to use an image of migrants on a boat for the reddit post but not the article. Almost like it visually misrepresents the statitics to rile up some permanatly online flag shaggers to keep the clicks coming.
Wow another great Brexit win! /s
Why can’t they be like transformers? And turn into houses… 🙁
UK population imported illegally*
Thank goodness self sufficiency in food hasn’t been in long term decline and fallen below 50%, otherwise this combined with climate change and falling GDP per head would be really really worrying.
This should help us with the growth that’s apparently going to save us all.
Why are these stories always from The Telegraph?
