In March, Edo posted a series of idyllic photographs from a gorgeous home in Porthmadog, including a view of the Moel y Gest mountain and a sneak peek at the antique furniture and artwork of the 14th century manor house. Edo’s mother, Nikki Williams-Ellis, and his stepfather, David Williams-Ellis, could also be seen enjoying a cup of tea on the terrace with two labradors, as they joined the family on what Edo called ‘an escape to magical North Wales’.

It’s perhaps unsurprising that the couple joined Edo and Beatrice for their holiday, given that they provided the accommodation. Nikki, David and David’s son, Jack (from his previous marriage to interior designer, Serena Williams-Ellis) own Wern Holiday Cottages, a collection of seven luxury properties on the private Wern estate, located between Porthmadog and Criccieth. The family stayed at the largest property, Carregfelen, which is able to accommodate 11 guests and boasts traditional interiors, incredible views and an expansive rose garden.

It seems that the group had plenty of fun taking a boat out for the day, catching lobster and enjoying walks under sunny skies – a proper break that was likely much-needed after the arrival of Princess Beatrice and Edo’s second daughter, Athena, in January. Welcoming their latest bundle of joy was not an altogether straightforward process, and the eldest York sister wrote a moving essay for Vogue about having her daughter preterm.
