The Executive Director of the Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE), Iulian Groza, warns that Moscow has initiated a new phase of the informational attack against the Republic of Moldova. According to him, in the next 3-4 months, we will enter a decisive stage of attempts to poison the informational space of the country and, generally, of Europe, reports IPN.
Groza emphasizes that these actions are part of a broader strategy of hybrid interference. For the authors of these attacks, the quality of the message does not matter. “The stakes are the deliberate poisoning of the public space of Moldovans everywhere with false, militaristic, conspiratorial, and deeply polarizing narratives”, states the executive director of IPRE.
According to Iulian Groza, the tactics used are not new and could have been observed in previous elections as well. Their aim is to sow confusion, provoke social division, and weaken citizens’ trust in state institutions.
“The Kremlin will constantly test our resilience space, using what has worked and what has not worked before. It will be essential to carefully monitor who takes these messages, how they communicate them, and in what contexts. This will help us identify the spokespersons and influence networks that operate in the interest of the Russian Federation”, wrote the IPRE director in a Facebook post.
Emphasizing the importance of vigilance, Iulian Groza recommends users to verify their information sources and to unmask the falsehoods.
