President Donald Trump’s threatened 30% tariffs on EU imports would be damaging for Europe and the United States, Germany’s Economy Minister Katherina Reiche said on Saturday, calling for a pragmatic solution to the escalating trade war.
“The tariffs would hit European exporting companies hard. At the same time, they would also have a strong impact on the economy and consumers on the other side of the Atlantic,” she said in an emailed statement.
“A pragmatic outcome to the negotiations must be reached quickly,” she added.
