Six months into his second term, U.S. President Donald Trump has yet to articulate a North Korea strategy, raising concerns that Washington is asleep at the wheel even as Pyongyang advances its nuclear program and deepens military ties with Russia.
The absence of clear direction comes at a particularly sensitive moment. Since Trump’s election, North Korea has continued touting its uranium enrichment capabilities and even carried out work on a new suspected enrichment facility, while developing new drone assets, building a nuclear-powered submarine and expanding production of long-range missiles.
