  2. Between this and the poor GDP data, I am not sure where Reeves goes from here. It’s increasingly clear that it was a cock up to raise the NI contributions and the minimum wage at the same time,

  3. By 2027 we’ll be talking about up to 50% job losses throughout the country from ai takeover

  4. The government needs to be honest with people about the economic consequences of our demographic changes.
Show people how much retirees are getting vs what they’ve put in and how that is unsustainable and unfair to expect promises of 40 years ago to be kept today on the backs of the workers who will get far less for significantly longer careers earning much less for the same work.

End the triple lock, make state pension (and other pensioner-only benefits) means-tested.

Increase tax base but update bands and reduce fiscal drag.

It’s crazy that so many people expect to much while paying an effective tax rate of <20% when you include personal allowance.

Get the planning bills through quickly to stop all the delays and NIMBY nonsense over building housing and grid infrastructure on ecological deserts of grass fields and farmland.

  5. There’s one thing booming. And you can tell. If you visit Greggs in the morning, you see who’s going there before work.

Tradesmen. Plumbers, painters, decorators, landscapers electricians, labourers, brick layers.

People are still renovating, developing. Turning shops into flats. Homes into HMOs. Building student flats. The list goes on. Interest rates are still low.

Lately a Door fitters has opened a shop, as well as an electricians.

Look to the property sector. It is blue chip money. If we learned anything from the 2008 crisis, it is that the government won’t let the property sector go down perpetually. No advice, just an observation by an old guy with grey hair.

  6. Regardless your view, this government really needed to tax the rich not companies that hire working class people. Less people in work means less tax thus more people claiming.
