Weirdly enough a friend of mine had this happen a week ago in Galway. Some shady character came to the door a week later looking for the package and 200e in cash. She ended up going to the gardai because the creep was intimidating her and obviously knew where she lived. She had set it aside because she thought it had been dropped off in error (someone with a similar-ish address does phone repairs as a nixer)

Fairly sure any “legit” phone/laptop postage has to 100% be signed for by the buyer.
They can’t just leave that in the letterbox I don’t think.
I remember working for call centres and that was always the way with new phones, if you weren’t home, the courier would come back another day. Something about the type and cost of item being so high that you physically have to say you recieved it.
Based on the packaging I’m seeing here, no, I don’t believe it’s genuine 😂
I’ll just leave this here, go down the rabbit hole OP and see how far it goes
See if there’s any number on the sim. Just text and ask where is the drop point. Free drugs!
Nothing as glamorous as a burner phone or anything but a few weeks ago we had a door delivered to the house and just left in the drive. We didn’t order a door. There was no identifying delivery information on said door.
There it sat for 4 or 5 days then, as quietly as it appeared, the door vanished, off on another adventure.

Daniel Kinahan told the boys to get rid the new fones, that new ones being dropped off to drop houses.
You have been selected at random to be a drug dealer in your local area. Just insert sim into phone to begin……

Did it have a voice message that said, this is your mission if ya choose to accept. Watch it explodes soon after the recording end
Missus changing careers and forgot to let you know?
If you turn it on Jason Bourne will kick through your front door and beat you to death with a loaf of bread.
Maybe ask a neighbor?
Are you in an episode of Line of Duty?
Be sure to post on your Instagram story there. That’ll go down well if it actually is linked to crime.
