  1. What an interesting way to undermine tax paying voters and insure a more liberal political landscape. And since these new voters are still going daily to their government brainwashing schools being taught the governments spin on how things work, it’s guaranteeing election outcomes.

  2. That’s interesting. I seem to remember a lot of criticism from the UK government when Scotland wanted to do the same during the independence vote.

Another ‘do as I say. Not as I do’

  3. afaik School is only mandatory for children up to 16 anyway, so it makes sense in that way

If they’re at the point that 16 year olds can vote then why not just lower the age of majority to 16?

  4. That’s interesting. I have no what will happen, but I’m curious how they will vote in the next election.

Maybe they will be smarter than their parents, and not vote for alt right idiots.

  5. What could go wrong with giving power to the young, unstable and impressionable minds to influence the political course of the country.

Teenagers don’t know who they want to be in life yet, but are expected to have nuanced understanding of how politics work? Half of them likely still in rebellious phases and nearly guaranteed to have opposite opinions from their parents, just because? And then their parents, or their peers, eventually finding out about their voting choices, driving a wedge in their personal relations? States running TikTok political campaigns?

Just how much do you want to destabilize your country on so many multiple fronts, for the sake of clinging on to power?
