Vice President JD Vance visited New Jersey on Wednesday following an appearance in West Pittston, Pennsylvania, to visit his chief of staff, Jacob Reses, according to officials.
Reses’ father died on July 7, and services were held July 10.
Air Force 2 landed at Atlantic City Airport and the vice president’s entourage was seen in Linwood, Atlantic County, said U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew’s office. Vance had been in Pennsylvania discussing President Donald Trump’s sweeping budget-and-policy package.
Reses is a native of Linwood and a 2009 graduate of Mainland Regional High School, according to news reports. Reses also served as chief of staff for Vance when he was a member of the U.S. Senate.
Vance’s staff did not immediately return a request by NJ Advance Media for comment Thursday. The Federal Aviation Administration differed questions to The White House.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
