This should be a proper byelection test for the Tories, assuming the nonce gets more than 12 months and is forced out.
A crushing defeat may make them realise that BoJo’s antics with the covid parties isn’t going to be forgotten by the voters, no matter how many times they try to sweep it under the rug, and that he’s go to go. Of course with golden boy Rishi in the shit now as well makes it more likely for Truss to get in.

As I said in the now deleted duplicate thread, if he is sentenced to more than a year in prison (which is less likely than you might think / hope for one count of sexual assault) then he would automatically lose his seat. If not then it would be a recall petition.
Of course he could resign, but he’s already said he wont and that he’s going to appeal.
> He will be thrown out of the House of Commons if he is handed a prison sentence of more than a year, or could face a recall petition to oust him.
The fact he was convicted of such a heinous crime should be more than enough to eject him.
The jail house awaits, and the welcome won’t be kind.
Sexual assault of a child. Is this, in other words, the exposing of a paedophile? Genuine question about definitions. After watching that new Savile docu on Netflix I’m feeling hyper-aware..

As someone from Wakefield, this is so typical to happen to us. The first non-labour MP since what, 1924 and he’s sexually assulting kids. Great.
And concocting ridiculous lies about it, to try to get away with it. Showing no remorse, no shame, no apology, no self-reflection, no awareness of the hurt and damage he caused. Typical fucking sociopathic Tory pervert.
What the fuck is a 50-something MP doing in the bedroom in the lower bunk bed of a 15 year old kid anyway?
Fucking wild that a convicted paedophile doesn’t automatically lose their seat.
I live in Wakefield. Bring on the by-election. Tories out.
what more can you expect from a tory politician these days?

From [BBC article](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-61026348) that got deleted:
