I’m missing this snack I was particularly fond of when I stayed in Athens. I don’t think it was peanut or anything with meat in it, but I used to buy it for a euro or so a bag from one of the carts with assorted dry snacks, in a bag like this https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-sesame-seed-coated-peanuts-for-sale-at-market-plaka-athens-greece-49899148.html. I remember them being relatively circular, but I’m not sure… Any help?

  1. They’re called mandoles (μάντολες), traditionally almonds caramelized and covered with honey and sesame seeds. They do it with other nuts or peanuts as well but I think the traditional is almonds due to the name.

I’ve also had them in Germany, called gebrannte Mandeln, so I don’t think it’s Greek only.
