This week, a future Queen of Sweden marked her birthday with a pair of traditional celebrations—and a very festive pair of floral statement earrings!

On Monday, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden celebrated her 48th birthday with her family on the island of Öland. She was joined by her father, King Carl XVI Gustaf, who led cheers in her honor, and her mother, Queen Silvia, as well as her husband, Prince Daniel, and their two children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar. The daytime celebrations took place at the family’s summer residence, Solliden Palace. (Readers of Hidden Gems will recognize the palace as the same one given to the King’s grandparents, Prince Gustaf and Princess Margaret of Connaught, as a wedding present in 1905 by King Oscar II and Queen Sofia.)

Victoria, Daniel, Estelle, and Oscar posed for a family portrait outside the palace during the celebrations. Both Victoria and Estelle opted for lightweight summer dresses in bright pastels and floral patterns for the occasion, while the boys went for crisp summer tailoring.

With her floral dress, Crown Princess Victoria wore a delicate gold necklace with an eye-catching pair of floral statement earrings. The earrings appear to have mother-of-pearl petals and coral-colored centers.

Victoria also wore a colorful bracelet on her left wrist. The jewel looks to be silver-toned, possibly with some gemstones included.

Here’s a look at what the King and Queen wore for the birthday celebrations. Queen Silvia opted for a pink and black tweed jacket with a ruffled white blouse and white trousers.

Almost hidden against the bright pattern of the jacket was the little brooch that Silvia wore: a modern piece made of gold and set with a pearl. It’s the same one that we saw her wear to receive the Christmas trees at the palace last December.

Later, the family gathered in the ruins of Borgholm Castle for the traditional Victoria Concert. Prince Carl Philip, Princess Madeleine, and Chris O’Neill joined the rest of the family for the performance.

Princess Madeleine wore a navy and white ensemble with summery jewels, including silver earrings with a bamboo design. The stack of bracelets she wore on her right wrist include a Cartier Love Bracelet and a diamond tennis bracelet.
