Copenhagen Municipality notifies persons affected by CPR data breach
Copenhagen Municipality said yesterday that it has begun notifying members of the public whose information may have been accessed without authorisation by a former municipal employee.
The announcement by the city government comes after a 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of having unlawfully accessed the personal information of 1,742 people in Denmark’s personal registry (CPR) database.
Police from the national special crime unit NSK arrested the man on Wednesday.
In addition to the suspected data breach, he is also under suspicion of extortion for having obtained and shared the personal information of 66 people using the messaging platforms Telegram and Signal.
He is also suspected of being an accomplice in an attempted murder in Jutland town Herning last year through allegedly shared information about the intended target.

Emergency services use drones to find pockets of embers near Skagen
Firefighters are still battling a wildfire in the dune plantation Skagen Klitplantage which has been burning since Monday.
The wildfire in the northern Jutland destination flared up slightly overnight, local fire services commander Per Hansen told news wire Ritzau this morning.
“We’re currently working to locate hotspots in the ground. That will probably take a day or two,” Hansen said.
“We’ve got a drone in the air equipped with a thermal camera. It detects heat sources on the ground. The firefighters then go out and check those areas and extinguish them,” said Per Hansen.

Additional fire crews are expected to join the operation during today to assist in locating and extinguishing the remaining pockets of wildfire.
This can mean either open flames or smouldering embers that need to be fully extinguished to prevent the fire spreading again.
The wildfire was previously reported to have spread across an area of roughly 27 hectares. Its cause is so far unknown.
Denmark’s Vingegaard lagging behind in Tour de France
Danish favourite Jonas Vingegaard’s hopes of winning a third Tour de France took a blow yesterday as rival Tadej Pogacar reclaimed the leader’s yellow jersey with an imperious stage 12 triumph on the Hautacam mountain in the Pyrenees.
Pogacar skipped away on an 11km solo ascent of the fabled climb to finish 2min 10sec ahead of key competitor Vingegaard while overnight leader Ben Healy wilted to a 13min deficit on the day.
In the overall standings Pogacar now leads the Tour de France by 3min 31sec over Denmark’s Vingegaard while Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel is third at a daunting 4min 45sec.
