Good news but a judicial review incoming no doubt, the Foxrock crowd will have no problem funding it
Good, fuck em
>The objection stated that the solution to the unsustainable spread of low-density suburban development “is not the random dumping of high density high rise developments onto whatever random site becomes available within the existing outer suburbs”.
It is the solution though
Before long It’s going to be one continual block out from stillorgan
Is that on the Dunnes stores land?
Ah yes, more one bedroom build to rent apartments, just what we need to solve the property crisis.
Good, we need more of this.
Fine Gael’s fast-track development law seems to have really made a large impact, although most people here seemed to back Catherine Connolly’s opposition to it.
I can hear the NIMBYs “REEEEEE” from here.
The only thing wrong with this is the build to rent .Can it not just be sell them off although I do realise it’s easier to sell to a REIT.
Boohoo, some rich D4 people will have to mix with commoners.
Should be a steal at 600k each!
Now to block institutional investors & vulture funds from touching them
The proposed rent for the 49 sq m 1 bed apartments is €1,900 pcm, so will expect that to be well over €2,000 by the time this is built. Bargain.
“One of the parties to object was the Foxrock South Residents Association”
As soon as I saw that it was in Cornelscourt I knew straightaway that Foxrock residents would object, lest their quaint little village be next.
The Nimbyism in South Co.Dublin is genuinely like anywhere else I have seen. And I say that as someone who has lived here all my life
Good. Hopefully this happens more often now.
The local community should approve all of those issues and if those issues are not addressed those officials should be replaced.
If that does not work then protest, its our right and block the god dam roads until it gets corrected!
Im not against apartments in the suburbs but 12 story apartments next to houses is wrong it just looks wrong! At the Black Horse Luas stop there is the worlds most out of place and ugliest apartment block Ireland has ever seen and i slag the shit out of it every time i pass! and you can see it miles down the road!
Someone took that bribe back in the boom time 2008 ish to look away or sign something!
Can someone explain to me why the eastern part of Dublin downtown (the Docklands) have so many tall buildings? Also, why in the same area there are also lots of one or two stories houses! Just look next to the Facebook offices, there is the Gallery Quay mega-building, and across it a series of little tiny houses. What happened there and in the general area?
Planning laws are a major contributor to the housing crisis, let developers build apartments
So we can’t increase the number of rural houses (where we have space) and we can’t increase the number of urban houses (where we have services). No wonder the cost of housing is through the roof. Cutting or even constraining supply and prices will skyrocket.
We’re already finding it difficult to hire in tech due to cost of living.

So many pissy comments here as if you wouldnt be a bit annoyed with 420 apartments being built over a number of years and adding mental traffic during and after.
I highly doubt any of these commenters live near one of these prospective sites that people take issue with. If it lands next to then they’d complain.
Isn’t funny if you wanna build a wall and noone in your area cares the planning gets refused, but yet when a community of people refuse to have an apartment complex built it gets granted.
We are all such push overs.
I don’t get it. I live near there and am not objecting. It solves the biggest problem I have with this country. Do it now!
This development is barely close to anyone mad to think people are complaining
Looks like a post war soviet build so and they worked out in ballymun, Oliver bond , fortunestown , tallaght cross etc NOT !
It’s also a bit of Dublin that could handle a few thousand extra people. On main transport corridors and close to facilities. Also LOL@Foxrock, the lamest of our posh suburbs

Why so far out from the city centre?
NIMBYism is a fucking detriment.
