It’s ridiculous that there are so many bus lanes on major roads that aren’t 24-hour.

  1. Even when the bus lane js 24hrs it can still be full of vehicles loading.

  2. That’s a parking lane! Madness. No difference what you call it as it’s stuffed with cars

  3. That road during rush hour is a total disaster, it’s quicker walking!

  4. Things need to be done and delivered. Can’t just have no parking at any time outside commercial buildings. London traffic generally is the problem not the lack of bus lanes. Also imagine 50% of roads being unused 90% of the time. Although fully agree the no parking should be wider time around rush hour.

  5. It would kill a lot of the businesses along these roads if it were otherwise.

Also no bus lanes need to be 24 hours, that’s ridiculous, 7am-6pm etc fine but not continual

  6. Fixed if we built more tube lines to replace the buses.

We wouldn’t need the 453 if they upgraded the Bakerloo

  7. yeah never get the bus up hackney road you may as well just walk

  8. I know the agenda of this sub is ‘car bad bus good’ but have you considered that there’s a reason? Maybe there are few bus routes that run outside of the times on the road, or the traffic there is bad enough to justify a second lane. No offence but someone more qualified than you has made that decision for a reason.

  9. Maybe even worse that so many bus lanes have been removed.
From Vauxhall and Waterloo bridges. Near Oval. Near St Paul’s. Regent St. Etc etc etc

  10. LTNs clearly haven’t helped either. All traffic is now being funnelled into certain roads which were already clogged up.

  11. I’d love London to move to having some bus and taxi only roads and converting more two lane roads into one lane plus cycles.

There is an unhealthy obsession with cars in a city where every bus journey is only £1.50. Madness.

  12. All tfl bus lanes at 24 hour. Use writetothem.com to email your councillors asking them to do the same for your buses or at least what they’re doing to minimise the amount of time buses are stopped. You’ll of course get back “things have to be delivered” but get ahead of that by saying you understand things have to be delivered but in many cases alternatives can be found and ask what alternatives and changes have been considered so far and what’s stopping them from happening?

Like in this image specifically you could maybe have 2 marked loading bays instead of the entire lane being used for parking. 2 might still block buses but at least buses can go around them easy enough. Could also point out that if the 2 loading bays were half on the pavement then the road is wide enough that buses won’t be obstructed by the remaining half and buses can run smoothly along there 24 hours.

This doesn’t look like a tiny road, there is space there and councilors need to actually do stuff instead of not because it’s not very easy.

But yeah email them either way, it’ll at least make them aware that people are really wanting changes.

  13. They’ll probably end up turning it into a cycle lane one day like they did to ruin Waterloo bridge
