Wizz Air Malta (W4, Malta International) has taken delivery of its first A321-200NY(XLR), ch-aviation research shows.
9H-XLA (msn 12346) conducted a ferry flight from Airbus‘ facility at Hamburg Finkenwerder to Milan Malpensa on July 15, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows. The factory-new aircraft is powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1000 engines and features 239 seats in an all-economy cabin layout.
The airline has not disclosed when it will put the aircraft into scheduled service. Wizz Air had been expected to launch a new A321XLR service between Milan Malpensa and Abu Dhabi International in June 2025, but the plans were abandoned.
ch-aviation reached out to Wizz Air for comment.
9H-XLA is coming from Wizz Air Holdings‘ orderbook for forty-seven A321XLRs. So far, the group has received two units, with the first having been delivered to Wizz Air UK on May 20. As previously reported, Wizz Air Holdings is in talks with the European manufacturer to scale back the A321XLR order following its decision to dissolve subsidiary Wizz Air Abu Dhabi.
According to ch-aviation data, Wizz Air Malta’s in-house fleet comprises fourteen A320-200s, six A320-200Ns, and eighty-four A321-200NX.
