Powys is the town with the highest driving test pass rate in the UK

  1. Unsurprising that the article reveals rural areas have a higher pass rate and cities have a lower pass rate.

I was learning to drive in Aberystwyth and found it a breeze, felt I was ready to do my test. Then I moved to Cardiff and continued my lessons and had to book in another 10 as it was something else entirely.

  2. That’s because you only pass another car every 10 minutes or so. That county does not need traffic lights

  3. When I did my test my home town of Forfar had that crown. It looks like Arbroath has taken that away from us the smokie munching fuckwits.

  4. I passed my test first time in Lampeter. Easiest test route ever I think.

“Drive out of town on the Tregaron road, then left towards Silian. Reverse into this side road and head back towards the Tregaron road. Emergency stop and back to the center. You didn’t hit anything! Pass.”

Along that route was one pedestrian crossing and a mini roundabout.

I only had 4 lessons too, although I had been riding motorbikes for years previously, and a car on and off too so these lessons were more about losing the habits I had picked up and doing things to the book.

  5. I’m a bit confused by this article – Llandrindod is my nearest town and the Llandrindod Wells test centre closed in 2020. The nearest ones are Brecon, Newtown and Aberystwyth now.

  6. As an outsider, I love reading Welsh news. World’s steepest hill record, stoned sheep run amok, highest driving test pass rate, possible new railways.

Welsh news has become my palette cleanser before dealing the rest of the world.

  7. Does that mean good drivers or slack invigilators? Hmm

  8. Having moved to Wales from London, I can say that the Welsh are excellent drivers.

I haven’t even been undertaken on the hard shoulder of the A55 at 90 once yet…

  9. Powys is a Town. Blydi big Town. 🤣🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿✊

  10. No surprise, Powys is quiet and spread out. You drop a newly passed Powys driver in Cardiff city centre though.. they’re gonna have a bad time to put it mildly

  11. It’s experience: if you’ve been driving a tractor since you were 14, you’re likely to be able to drive…

  12. Aww fuck, I’m learning in and have my test in swansea

  13. Driving in Wales is great once you realise that 2 shevron corners are in fact 180 degree turns followed by…. Well any random permutation.

A narrow road may bee interrupted by a traffic light to signal single lane traffic for about ten metres

And basically zero traffic means roundabouts can be taken at 50 in 5th if you get the momentum right.

    I love it.

    Sheep>twat on an electric scooter

    Horse>suv cunt

Tractor….. Well they’re the most considerate drivers on the road

Quad thing with dog and insane driver with Bale…… Just shits ang giggles
