“The mum from Camborne explained that she visited McDonald’s in Pool last Tuesday (July 8) and purchased five hot chocolates for her family. Levi claimed she was handed the hot chocolates from the drive-thru with “no warning” as to how hot they were”
Yeah, good luck with that attempt to get a payment. At least she managed to make herself look like a thoroughly unqualified parent by getting this published.
Who would’ve thought Hot Chocolate is hot though?
Injuries to the girl aside cause hot water burns are no joke, what is her mum aiming for here? She’s blaming McDonald’s that her Hot chocolate was hot? Does she want a luke warm chocolate? If anything this is on mum for giving her daughter a freshly made hot beverage in the car and driving.
8 year handling 5 hot chocolates? Poor parenting.
Isn’t there a huge clue in the name ????
Don’t tell me it was wet too? This is getting out of hand.
I remember when something like this played out in the US. The burns were horrific.
Source: Am from America, it was all over the news.
Oh here we go again
If she had gotten hot chocolate from that branch before, and is normally warned about being hot, surely she mum should’ve remembered that normally hot chocolate is, well, hot. This is only an issue if McDonald’s have raised the temperature recently for some reason.
Personally, the last time I had take away hot chocolate I found it not hot enough (costa though not McDonald) as it was ready to drink instantly and in one go before it goes too cold, to which I was told that having it too hot scolds the milk or something
Sounds like a parenting issue.
The mother handed it to her daughter, not McDonald’s and surprise surprise HOT things are HOT.
Bad parenting with no accountability.
Since when are McDonalds hot drinks anything other than Luke warm?
So is McDonald’s media machine in full spin to blame the little girl yet?
I guess they’ll probably go for the parents. Irresponsible or money grabbing or both?
I’m sure people will be happy to swallow that spin and be judgemental and not think about the fact you don’t hear about this happening repeatedly from other chains.
This is what is really annoying when waitressing and you get people who say “I want it extra hot” well actually we can’t serve it that hot because if you burn yourself we get sued
She didn’t get burned by buying a hot chocolate. She got burned when she spilt the hot chocolate on herself.
I’m more surprised it wasn’t an apple pie to be honest. Those things are like Napalm.
This is tragic but so is the parents eagerness to get a photo of her in a hospital bed in the media.
Mother claims hot chocolate needs a warning for heat and leaves her child unattended with it and blames maccies for her daughters mistake? Wild
Hot chocolate was hot and parents didn’t care to handle it properly?
[The Misunderstood McDonald’s Hot Coffee Lawsuit ](https://youtu.be/ENTaHxjN4xI?si=_CpY-IHpWrH6XMsm)
Shitty parents do anything besides take the blame for their own failures.
I think the clue is in the name; HOT chocolate. Treat hot drinks with the respect they deserve and you’ll be fine.
You want to drive with a cup of scalding liquid between your thighs, you’re a moron.
Breaking news, hot drinks are extremely hot….. literally says on the lid.
Wow
McBurn!
As an American who had this appear on their front page for some reason, wow, going by the replies here, the UK is filled with corporate bootlickers. Why are you immediately jumping to defend McDonald’s when we don’t have all the facts about the temperature of the drink and the severity of the burns yet? Maybe a drink that’s typically served to children shouldn’t be so hot? Considering that a McDonald’s coffee fused a woman’s labia to her thigh, I’m not sure why you’re inclined to side with them.
ive posted similar in another sub about this, but it’s absolutely ridiculous that half the people here whinging about “hurry durr HOT chocolate” haven’t even bothered to read the article, or just aren’t capable of discerning that the media is just using quotes from the mother to further rile us all up
A child drops a hot drink and is now being treated for burns and infection. That’s it, that’s the article. It’s a sad occurrence and an accident.
Falling for this ragebait “but no one told me it was hot” shite is honestly sad. It’s incredibly unlikely anything will happen to McDonalds over this, the drinks machine was fine (although we’ve heard this before hmm?)
Maccies doesn’t need you to do their bootlicking for them, and why don’t we hear of this happening with drinks from other chains?
Reminds me of the apple pies that were scolding people
Ah shit, here we go again.
Ric flair hot coffee.
McDonald’s have a history of serving drinks far, far too hot to the point they’ve caused third degree burns, ric flair was severely burned by a cup of mcdonalds coffee and was part of the lawsuit. The coffee was something insane like 80c
Clues in the fucking name.
And who the fuck gives their 8 year old kid a hot drink.. without checking the temperature first.
This world is fucked 😅🤣😂
So, as a burn surgeon I am flabbergasted that people are sticking up for the Mum here. Fluids can burn at 60C. Most hot drinks are served at 70C. You cannot use the accusation of “the staff made it too hot”, they are machine made and likely highly consistent in terms of temperature.
If you were to bring it below 70C you would have every Karen throwing it back for being too cold. And the whole thing about testing for toxic shock is bollocks, we give all burns patients this warning – there likely wasn’t anything particularly threatening about this injury. I don’t know about the US case but we have to accept that sometimes accidents happen, every day.
That sucks.. Hope she gets a speedy recovery.
