Right now we’re witnessing all the major media in America that isn’t overtly right wing being bought out and turned “right leaning” or worse. Make no mistake in the future the far right media like Fox and Newsmax is going to continue to call these sources “far left” even as they move to spewing right wing content.
What you’re witnessing is a forced shift in the cultural overton window rightward by capital. Eventually they are trying to push this window far right enough that fascism is seen as ok or even good.
Anyone who is surprised by this, or the end of Stephen Colbert’s show, should read, or reread, “1984” by George Orwell.
