Just put some more layers of clothing on. See kids complaining about feeling cold all the time but refuse to put a top on and walk around the house in their bare feet. Typical of kids these days really. Complain about global warming but not caring about global warming if it gets in the way of the way of their comforts.
I remember growing up, my dad would basically have me in a jumper a hat, two pairs of socks…. basically I’d look like I’m just about to leave the house..
That habit is forever engraved into me, to the point where if I’m a bit cold I’ll end up sticking on more layers rather than put the heating on (unless it’s absolutely freezing)…
I go round to mates houses and they’ve always got their heating on, and I’m sat in with my jacket and hat on out of habit.
Grim stuff.
Growing up poor is a wounding experience. Growing up poor and having to act as the adult must be an especially deep wound.

We could afford to alleviate unjust struggles like this – but our man in number 11 has decided it’s better to bleed the poor dry instead of taxing the super wealthy (a category he is part of).
I suspect without heating the mother, she’ll be no good for eating…
