Princess Diana’s ex-aide Paul Burrell has appeared to snub Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Daily Star spoke exclusively to former royal butler Paul, in collaboration with Casino.org, as he prepares to launch his new tell-all book, titled The Royal Insider.

Paul is best known for working with Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth II. He served as a footman for the Queen before moving on to be a personal attendant and butler to Prince Charles and Princess Diana during their stay at Highgrove House.

We asked Paul if he thinks there is a lot more that goes on behind the scenes in royal marriages than the public knows, and he confirmed there is but the monarchs do their best to keep a lid on it.

Paul answered: “Does more go on behind the scenes in royal marriages than what the public knows? Are you kidding me? Of course there is! There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes. Like in all our lives, some things happen that are quite unbelievable.

“We are all complex and complicated human beings, and the royals are just the same. All complex and all complicated. But they must try and contain that world and they must try and put a lid on it as much as they can.”

He then praised William and Kate, as well as King Charles and Camilla, before notably leaving out Harry and Meghan from his shower of marital compliments.

Paul continued: “I think William and Kate are doing that perfectly, as are the King and Queen, despite having a staff of more than 200. They manage to keep their world intact.

“But they do have a very interesting world. Some of which should never be talked about, but other things are of historical importance that should be spoken about.”

Despite what could look like a rocky relationship with the royals, Paul revealed he still maintains relationships with the monarchy.

He shared: “I have maintained contact with the Royal Family over many years, and I have seen members of the Royal Family. However, I will be discussing that in more detail in my new book, The Royal Insider.

“My new book is coming out on September 11, and it’s a big part of the book in answering my critics and why I feel that I am the Royal Insider. Because I do have contact, and I have had contact with them for a very long time.”
