Feels so hopeless that shit like this doesn’t seem to push the needle of what political party people throw their weight behind. I know none of them are perfect – but you’ve got to think a move away from THIS is needed.
I think Rishi and his ilk are more concerned about themselves than this
Do people dependent on food banks ever get the opportunity to organize? Or is it preferred that they all receive their donations individually so there is never an opportunity for them to realise the extent of the problem?
Once a month call for everybody who cares about the increase in the necessity of food banks to meet outside the Town Hall for an hour.
Sunak will be aware of this. If he cared then he would have done something by now, he has years to help people properly after all. Help is not going to come and people need to accept that and then get angry about it.
Rishi had the briefing to close foodbanks, noone told him how
Remember when food banks were rare things for the most vulnerable people?
Then we elected the fucking Tories.
We need a vaccine for the UKs crippling Tory infection.
Still makes me think of the tory supporter on LBC saying he’ll vote for them because “there are food banks now and labour never gave us them” when asked what the tories had done for him.
Thankfully I have massive back garden and we morsels turned our garden into a food garden. Seeds are relatively cheep so along water prices don’t go into the sky its cheep food. I really think people should start going back to growing there own food be it in pots on a patio. like it wont help this mess we are in but it will help people and your self from not starving.
The looney left complains about all the food banks and now they’re shutting down, they suddenly want them back. Can’t win with these people.

By design. Can’t have those pesky peasents eat anything but gruel. Food banks are merely meant to be used for photo ops and even snarking about it makes me want ot hurl the laptop out of the window then give it a five star frog splash.

If people working 40 hour or full time or partime hours are having to resort to using the food banks because bills literally eat up most of their wages and travel eats up the rest then that is fucked up. Worse, the government literally spent weeks attacking Marcus Rashford last year for helping school kids. The government prefers to spend more time on appearance then doing it’s fucking job.
We need a fucking election soon and if none of the other parties have anything to offer, i’ll vote labour out of pure spite. Or Lord Buckethead.

Does anyone else feel like they’re gonna wake up one day and the cunts in charge will have actually realised these issues and done something to start fixing it?
I feel like it just has to happen. People of the country cannot exist like this. We simply can’t. It’s not like a ‘people can’t exist without wifi’ sorta thing. It’s a ‘**people will fucking die because they can’t afford to both feed** ***and*** **heat themselves.’**
I just… don’t know why this doesn’t seem important to them..? I don’t get why it’s not even sold as a crisis.

Of course. We must take into account the disgraceful hateful cunts in charge, but nevertheless, *surely* this is something we have to fix.. ***Surely!***
Why does he need warning? Becuase it hasn’t happened fast enough?
Rishi Sunak probably laughed or dismissed it out of hand.
Tories don’t give a fuck that we are suffering. Never have, never will.
Headline should read’ Britain needs food banks’. How’s this acceptable in 2022?

I do charity work for a little shop that gives away ‘still good food’, food that would have otherwise have been thrown out by supermarkets, and it’s all laid out and inspected and you can give what you can or take what you need. In the past few weeks, there has been so much more use of the shop, I restock nearly empty shelves every time I do a delivery. It shows more people are needing to seek out cheaper options or some people are struggling to afford food.
Tax assets to help the poor. We keep taxing working people harder while the rich keep getting richer
“So are they down to 2 or 3 different types of bread?”
The first half or so of the year tends to be the ‘quiet’ time at the one I work at. We have some busy times now and again but things tend to ramp up later in the year with both donations and people needing our help. At the moment we’re *just* able to fulfil the needs of our city whereas usually we’d be pretty comfortable at this time of year. Covid made a huge impact, we had to completely change our model and now we have to rely on extra volunteers to deliver the food parcels to people. That stretches us too because there are only so many people with the time to be able to volunteer, most tend to be older and the lifting required at times isn’t good for them.
All of our clients are referred to us by agencies that can track their longer term needs and ensure that they get help in other ways so that they don’t (because they can’t, we don’t have enough food to feed people if they became ‘regulars’ instead of emergencies) end up fully reliant on Foodbanks long term.
There are a lot of well meaning people setting up mini foodbanks in parts of the city and while I admire them for trying to help I feel it needs a more centralised and efficient approach to it, at least in our city anyway.
Wow rishi thanks for that, did this thought not pass through his thick fucking skull? Everyone knew this would happen
