For anyone who thinks this is not needed, the facts in this case are that a male doctor refused to let a female nurse undress privately. That’s really the crux of it.
The male’s colleagues then circulated a condemnation email whilst the nurse was told not to speak to a soul.
The policies the NHS were enforcing were *unlawful* and the Union practically backed the male’s utter entitlement to women’s **single sex** spaces.
The sexism and misogyny are through the fucking roof.

Sandie Peggie is the person who instigated all of these court proceedings in the first place, bringing this tribunal about against NHS Fife. Yet right wing rags keep trying to peddle about the lie that it’s Ms Upton and NHS Fife who have cost the taxpayer hundreds of thousands of pounds.
The one thing that is known in this case for absolute sure, is Ms Peggie made a conscious decision to go to the women’s restroom, knowing full well that Dr. Upton was in there, and took it upon herself to confront her alone, knowing nobody else was present. We keep being fed this malicious narrative that cis women need trans women kept out of our spaces for our safety and our protection, and because their mere presence can cause us to feel intimidated. Nothing about the above scenario would suggest that Ms Peggie was in any way intimidated by, or scared of, Dr. Upton. She decided totally of her own volition, to enter a space where she knew Ms Upton was, confronted her, and proceeded to interrogate her. The only thing Ms Upton did “wrong” (at least in the eyes of Peggie and her supporters), was to be in that space. Peggie was the one who actively looked for the confrontation, and basically harrassed Ms Upton just for being there. I’d wager that the only one who was intimidated in that room, was Ms Upton.
If Beth Upton’s “actions” are supposed to be held up as an example of evidence of why we need “protecting” from trans women, it’s not a very convincing arguement at all.

It emerged this week at tribunal that upon receiving Upton’s allegations, the managers circulated them as fact amoung all the Hospital’s consultants- who then began to dicuss the case in an email chain.
These were allegations without any witnesses or evidence behind them.
Peggie was then suspended, without investigation or consultation.
It took a letter from a private solicitor, months later, demanding to know why she had been suspended to get the case passed to legal. We dont know what their advice was, but the suspension was immediately dropped.
That kind of basic procedural unfairness is bread and butter union work.
A paid member should never be relying on private solicitors for support in that circumstance.
If the union had stepped in from the start this would likely never have escalated to a tribunal and SM would never have become involved.
How long before we see “Sandie Peggie my NHS hell ” when she sells her story to the Sun?
