Europol-coordinated global operation takes down pro-Russian cybercrime network • FRANCE 24 English

It’s a major blow to a notorious pro-Russian hacking group. Europole says it’s disrupted the infrastructure of No Name057, a cyber crime network suspected of a string of attacks on Ukraine and its allies. The international operation cenamed Eastwood took down over 100 computer systems across the globe with much of the group’s central server infrastructure now said to be offline. It saw authorities from the EU, Switzerland, and the US coordinate simultaneous raids on the network. Germany has now issued six arrest warrants for suspects in Russia, two believed to be key leaders. Arrests were also made in France and Spain. According to Dutch officials, the group carried out multiple denial of service attacks, attempts to overload and crash websites, initially targeting Ukrainian institutions. but their focus has since shifted to countries supporting the war torn country in its defense against Russia. Switzerland was hit hard by no name 057. Over 200 websites in the country were attacked. The group also targeted a video address by Ukrainian President Ronald Lenski to the Swiss Parliament in June of 2023 and this year’s Eurovvision Song Contest held in Basil. Italian authorities say the cyber crime network had a central line of command and control in the Russian Federation. Since the war in Ukraine began, cyber attacks from both Moscow and Kee have escalated. Operations that are destructive to both infrastructure and civilians.
