The future of India-Pakistan cricket was up in the air ever since the dastardly Pahalgam terrorist attacks, and the subsequent retaliation by India with Operation Sindoor. The Asia Cup 2025 is currently in limbo with chances of it being cancelled seeming highly likely. Amidst this, India and Pakistan were set to take on each other in the cricket field, in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 on July 20 (Sunday) at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham, England. However, fans who were hoping to see legends like Yuvraj Singh, Shikhar Dhawan and Irfan Pathan clash with the likes of Shahid Afridi and Mohammed Hafeez will now be disappointed.
The WCL has officially announced that the match between India Champions and Pakistan Champions has been called off in view of public sentiment. In an official statement, the WCL have stated that they thought that the match would be possible after Pakistan decided to travel to India for the Hockey Asia Cup, and matches between the two countries were being held in volleyball and other sports. However, seeing the negative public sentiment and the fact that several Indian legends were declaring their non-participation, the match has now been called off.
