  1. Turret stayed on, disappointing. Maybe I’ve been on this sub too long…

  2. And the Russian’s be like:

‘after all that and it still kept its turret?? What sorcery is this?!?!’

  3. Non-aerodynamic turret, what distinguishes it from the Russian ones.

  4. And despite all that the crew is probably fine if a bit shook.

  5. What’s with the influx of old afgan/iraq content? We gearing up for part 4? That would suck

  6. Seeing the blow out panels work is pretty interesting. Did the crew survive?

  7. Dose anyone know the lore and stuff behind this? I’ve heard that very very few abrams got taken out completely by enemies in the middle east.

  8. The Americans have been building tanks with survivability in mind since WW2, the crew was probably alright.

  9. The ruskis are jealous about this, because the turret didn’t turn into a projectile flying 100ft above the ground

  10. Ive heard the driver position often would put sand bags underneath to protect them as this was a known weak spot.

  11. The logo in this video belongs to the Mujahideen Shura Council, basically they only operated under this name / logo during 2006, they were kind of a placeholder group between Al-Qaeda in Iraq and Islamic State of Iraq.

  12. I think the M1 Abrams tank did not cook off because of the IED. I think the Abrams cooked off because US Tank Crews have a protocol and procedure that if they have to abandon and leave the tank when it is immobilized on the battlefield, they have to throw in some phosphorus grenade or thermite grenade inside the tank to prevent the enemy from taking control of the tank.

The video that showed the part where it is about to be hit by an RPG, the tank has already left the tank and throwed in the grenades. You can see that the hatches were already open, and the turret you see moving downwards is because of the intense heat inside the tank frying out the electronics and turret drive system.

  13. Had to double check to see if the scene with the burning tank is the same, from what I can tell it seems to be the case

  14. Makes me think how fortunate I am. We were in Ramadi, at dusk, doing a u-turn in a bright white massive CASSPIR and the fucker died while we were straddling the highway. We ended up getting towed away, but it was uncomfortable

  15. Seems like a bit premature. There must have been more hits between the IED and the rest of the video.
