  1. I love that in the 20 years since I went to Uni they’ve only increased the price by £1.

  2. They are an institution.

Not wood fired Neopolitan style, artisan but the only place you can still sit and eat for a fiver.

  3. I think if you are sharing and looking for tips/cheap places it might be a good idea to share the name/location (unless I’m being blind 😂)

  4. It looks like they can keep it under a fiver by not putting any cheese on it.

  5. Pizza union also does a sauce-only £3.95 12″ pizza by the way.

  6. Yep icco is one cheapest central London eats and I genuinely think that it’s great 👍.

On a side note up on church st mkt by Edgware rd station there is Kurdish place that does amazing topped bread for 2/3quid . And it tastes amazing

  7. Think it’s worth remembering that pizza is pretty much the definition of a peasant food.

We all love pizza but when you really think about it, it’s mad to be spending much more than a fiver on it

  8. I don’t understand why pizza is so expensive. The whole reason it was invented was because it was cheap. You can go to Naples and get a tasty margarita for €5. Then you come to London and it’s £12 (€14). I understand London has much higher rent but charging so much more for a food that’s meant to be cheap is ridiculous.

  9. Dear god, that looks pitiful. Splash out on a few quid more and get a tasty pizza with, you know, stuff on it.

  10. I used to rinse ICCO when I worked near Charlotte St. Bargain

  11. Do you have to pay extra to disclose the name of the establishment? Or for a close-up picture..?

  12. there are loads of places with better bargains.

There is a pizza place in camberwell I think it’s called Francesco’s where you get actual proper pizza. It’s advertised at 12 inches but they have always been more like 16 inches when ive seen them. every pizza is 5 pounds. I think they are better than the one in the picture.

  13. I used to have a massive comment on Reddit about this but have since written a bunch of articles about it instead!

I am working on transplanting it into a Google Maps list but I think when it’s done it’ll be about 250 places deep (and yes Ecco and Icco both feature heavily) 🙂

  14. ok but did you order a nothing pizza with extra nothing on top?

  15. London is really weird in how it has little pockets of genuine affordability despite being searingly expensive in general.

  16. It’s not unusual for pizza restaurants to have an ultra-cheap marinara loss-leader so that they can advertise ‘Pizzas from only £4!!’ or whatever. When you get there you discover the price doubles when you add a measly amount of cheese. [Example](https://pizzamammamia.uk/menu/).

  17. It’s bread and tomato sauce. Talk about low cost ingredients, I doubt they can charge much more.
