Danish duo Leon Madsen and Andreas Lyager joined forces to land European Pairs Championship gold in Daugavpils on Saturday.

Speedway GP first substitute Madsen raced to 18 points from seven rides, with Lyager contributing 13 as Denmark topped the podium on 31 points in Latvia – beating the hosts by one.

Latvia claimed the silver medals after European individual champion Andzejs Lebedevs raced to 18 points in his home city, with Daniils Kolodinskis adding seven and Riga wild card Jevgenijs Kostigovs scoring five as the team finished on 30 overall.

Czechia bagged the bronze medals on 26 after an inspired display by SGP2 rider Adam Bubba Bednar, who went unbeaten from five rides on 15, while Speedway GP partner Jan Kvech added 11.

Great Britain raced to 21 points, with Tom Brennan starring on 12 and Adam Ellis notching nine. 

Their tally was matched by Poland. With the Polish Championship Final second round taking place, the FIM Speedway World Cup holders tracked a depleted side, with Grzegorz Zengota collecting 14 and Tobiasz Musielak scoring seven.

Slovenia finished on 14 in fifth spot with SGP2 rider Anze Grmek and Matic Ivacic bagging seven each.

France finished seventh on 12, with David Bellego scoring all of their points. That total was matched by Finland as Jesse Mustonen registered nine points and Antti Vuolas notched three.
