A protest took place outside The Bell Hotel on Thursday which was disrupted by people throwing projectiles, including eggs and fireworks.

Police say the protest was peaceful however the incident led to officers being assaulted and damage was done to police vehicles and the hotel.

One officer was left with a minor neck injury, then later on, others “intent on offending” caused further disruption in Epping town centre.

A serious of protests have been taking place and it is understood they are linked to immigration and the current use of The Bell Hotel to accommodate asylum seekers.

The force has now issued an appeal to find three men, an Essex Police spokesperson said: “An investigation to identify those who caused disorder in the town is continuing at pace.

“Our officers, supported by the Metropolitan Police Service and British Transport Police, faced significant hostility as they worked to keep people safe.

“Detectives are now seeking to trace the following three individuals.

“Anyone with information about these individuals or with further footage or imagery can share via our public information portal

“We would urge anyone who has information which they have not shared to contact us.”

For the person in the image labelled EF100, Essex Police would like to speak to him in connection with violent disorder and assaulting an emergency worker.

For EF101, the police would like to speak with this man in connection with violent disorder.

The man pictured in EF102, the force would like to speak to him in connection to violent disorder and assault.
