Former Valencia player Chris Jones has officially signed with Hapoel Tel Aviv, the Israeli club confirmed earlier today.
After weeks of negotiations, the deal has now been finalized, marking a significant addition to Hapoel’s roster as they continue to build an ambitious team for the upcoming season.
Chris Jones, who spent the last few seasons in Spain with Valencia, had established himself as one of the best point guards in the Liga Endesa. Known for his court vision, scoring ability, and leadership, he left a strong legacy at Valencia. However, following the arrival of Darius Thompson, it became evident that a shake-up in the backcourt was imminent, prompting Jones to seek a new challenge.
Now, under the guidance of head coach Dimitris Itoudis, Hapoel Tel Aviv boasts a formidable rotation at the point guard position. Jones is expected to provide crucial depth and experience alongside Serbian star Vasilije Micic, forming one of the most intriguing guard pairings in European basketball.
Hapoel Tel Aviv has been aggressive in the transfer market this summer, signaling its intent to compete at the highest level domestically and in continental competitions. With Chris Jones joining a core that already includes Micic and several high-profile signings, the Israeli powerhouse is shaping up as a serious contender for titles in 2025.
Jones, 31, previously played for clubs such as Maccabi Tel Aviv, Asvel, and Bursaspor before joining Valencia in 2022. His familiarity with the Israeli league and experience in the EuroLeague make him a valuable asset for Hapoel, both on and off the court.
The club is expected to make additional roster announcements in the coming days as preparations for the new season intensify.
