My bike was stolen last night from Drurys st. The parking attendant heard an angle grinder so went down to the bikes and saw someone cycling off with it at about 7.30. Its been reported to the Garda. The serial number is JC118F1000028. Let me know if you see it online or IRL.

  1. Keep an eye on done deal, adverts & facebook market place is the usual suggestion, I hope you find your bike.

Less helpful to your current situation, but general advice: kryptonite locks come with some level of insurance depending on the locks quality, you should have a cable and a u-lock. Also when you are locking the bike, do it with as little play in the lock & bike as possible, scumbags use the bikes as levers to pop the locks if they can, that’s harder if the bike is tight against the pole.

    Sorry this happened to you.

  2. Poxy going to the precaution of using a “secure” car park and lock, but people can still take it. It looks like an expensive bike, it can be worth adding them to your home insurance. Bit late now, but for future reference

  3. Not a good idea to have such a nice bike in Dublin. It will be robbed and there’s nothing to do about it.

You need to get a beat up old banger of a bike and it won’t be worth robbing.

  4. wow just yesterday someone was asking on /r/Dublin where to leave his bike overnight and multiple comments said Drury St car park.

  5. Absolute fucking wankers! I’m sorry man.

But bike theft drives me nuts, it’s so prevalent here that there are organized gangs that steal bikes to ship them abroad.

Being prosecuted for stealing a bike is basically impossible. My friend found his stolen bike on donedeal and called the police who basically organized a sting operation. He arranged to meet the thief in his house with police and they arrested him. He got off because they couldn’t prove he actually stole the bike…

  6. I try to beat thieves by having the cheapest bike I could find on the market. I hope nobody steals it. And if they do. Meh.
