“The Smorgon Assembly Plant has set two records at once: the largest number of walk-behind tractors produced — over 100,000, and the release of Belarus’ first self-propelled lawn mower. For its part, the Minsk Gear Plant entered the record books as the only specialised enterprise producing gear wheels with a full manufacturing cycle in Belarus and the CIS,” MTZ noted.

The enterprise also noted that shortly before that, the Minsk Tractor Works itself had been entered into the Belarusian Book of Records for the most mass-produced tractor — the BELARUS 80.1. The ceremonial presentation of the certificate took place on June 1st during the MTZ open day.

The Smorgon Assembly Plant was established on June 27th, 1986 — by order of the Tractor and Agricultural Engineering Minister, the directorate of the MTZ branch production association was founded in Smorgon, the Grodno Region. The initial purpose of the enterprise was to produce complex assemblies and components for the BELARUS tractors, as well as consumer goods, tools, technological tooling and non-standard equipment. Currently, the Smorgon Assembly Plant specialises in small-sized BELARUS tractors and walk-behind tractors, various types of ploughs and other attachments.

The Minsk Gear Plant specialises in gear shafts and gears for the BELARUS tractors, and manufactures agricultural ploughs and reduction gears. Today, the company employs more than 1,700 people.
