Had no idea McDonald’s market cap was so much higher than everyone else. They are practically the sum of everyone else.
It kinda sucks that it misses Restaurant Brands International since it is technically Canadian when they own primarily US brands (Burger King, Firehouse Subs, and Popeyes) along with their Tim Hortons. They have a market capitalization at $22.65b for anyone curious.
Cava is much bigger than I thought
Beautiful? This is a bar chart.
McDonnald doesn’t even do that with the “food”. They are one of the world’s largest (if not the largest) real estate and land owners among companies, brokers and landlords.
I see a list of companies to avoid. The higher the value, the higher the margins.
Was surprised to see Texas Roadhouse so high up, though I’ve only gone once or twice since I grew up in Texas.
For those who don’t know,
Yum!: KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell.
Darden: Long Horn, Olive Garden, Season 52, Yard House, Capital Grill
Brinker: Chili’s, Maggiano’s
Biglari Holdings: Steak and Shake, Jack in the box.
Blooming’ Brands: Outback, Carrabba’s, Bonefish.
I researched all of them because I wanted to know where my Burger King’s at.
Those are not chains. Those are corporations. If I am still up-to-date on this sector, Yum! includes Taco Bell, KFC, et al. Darden includes Olive Garden, et al.
Is Dairy Queen technically publicly traded under $BRK.A? Obviously a bunch of non-restaurants involved, but you listed other conglomerates…
Fun fact:
Yum brands (KFC) just moved their headquarters from Kentucky to Texas. While Texas Roadhouse remains headquartered in Kentucky.
Too bad inspire brands is privately held. I’d like to see how they stack up. They own Dunkin Donuts, Baskin Robbins, Arby’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Jimmy John’s, and Sonic.
As an outsider, it’s funny how some marketing does it’s job. There are big companies that I’ve never heard of, like Chipotle (I know the word, but for a meal), Yum, Darden, Texas Roadhouse, Cava, Wingstop and many more here, but Wendy’s, due to their marketing is a well known brand for me (although I have no idea what they sell, apart from being a fast food).
This chart really shows how small and mid cap companies are likely to be held privately these days.
Biglari Holdings is hilarious. It owns Steak n Shake, but it’s way more diversified than that. The CEO thinks he’s the second coming of Warren Buffett.
Starbucks isn’t a restaurant
