Hi! I’m heading from Poland to Vilnius for a few days later this month and I’m looking for recommendations. What should I see, do, try, or experience while I’m there? The less obvious the better. Any local food or beverages I shouldn’t miss? I’m also curious about the nightlife. Are there any cool bars, cool or chill places to spend an evening at?
Also, is Vilnius a bicycle-friendly city? I’d love to explore a bit on a bike if that’s a good option.

Appreciate any tips

(Tasty šaltibarščiai for attention)

  1. Go to Elektrinė rooftop – a bar where (if you’re lucky) some indie band might play at with a rooftop view of Vilnius oldtown.

Visit the TV tower. You don’t need anything special, there’s a bar there too but you can go up just for the views.

If you like modern art, give ŠMC a visit. It has been recently renovated.

There’s also a bar named Peronas appropriately just besides the train station.

Vilnius is really bike friendly, most places you will easily reach with a bike. You can also rent a city bike with CycloCity.

If you want Lithuanian food, easiest place would be Etno dvaras (it’s in a touristy convinient place by the Cafhedral). But if you want something more nieche try Žemaičių Ąsotis

  2. Definitely visit Lukiškės kalėjimas. Its 25€ for a tour of the prison with a guide but its worth every penny. Plus theres a bar there.

  3. All great suggestions from others, my personal favs that weren’t mentioned by others are:

Fabrikelis – cute restaurant in a forest
Opera social house – another rooftop bar
StrangeLove – coffee place near Bernardino Garden
Downtown Forest – cool place to chill and grill

In general, keep an eye out for events during summer – there’s sometimes free concerts, free movie screenings outside, free day ‘raves’ etc.
