COLUMBUS, Ohio — The average price for regular gasoline in Ohio has decreased to $2.92 per gallon, marking a drop of about 12 cents from last week.
This price remains consistently lower than the same period last year.
Jim Garrity, Director of Public Affairs for AAA East Central, attributed the decline in gas prices to the current crude oil prices, which are at $65.73 per barrel.
“You’re looking at crude oil prices that are back down under $70 a barrel and when crude goes up and down so does gasoline because crude oil is the number one ingredient and gasoline in it accounts 50 to 60% of what you spend at the pump,” Garrity said.
In comparison, the average gas price is $3.05 in West Virginia and $3.22 in Pennsylvania. Nationally, the average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.14, which is down 1 cent from last week.
