    Weidel logic: “Germany for Germans!”
    Said by the woman living in Switzerland with her Sri Lankan-born partner, raising kids in a multilingual, multicultural household.

    But hey, who are we to question the integrity of a far right politician whose life reads like the exact thing her party warns us about in every press release?

    I hope she continues to get muted.
    Hypocrisy that thick needs a full-volume fact check every single time

  3. It doesn’t change anything because, in the end, she always says the same thing:

    * **„Hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants live in the country”** (her statement is still relatively moderate, since some of her party colleagues claim there are millions; however, both figures are incorrect)
    * **„Our economy is on the brink, collapse is near”** (they’ve been saying this for years. There are indeed problems, but we remain one of the strongest economies in the world)
    * **„Climate change is an invention of the German Greens”** (no comment necessary I think)
    * **„We are on the verge of an energy blackout”** (we have been waiting for years for it to happen)
    * **„Putin is a nice guy who just wants to negotiate”** (yes, so nice that he threatens us with war)
    * **„The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution is manipulated, the judges are manipulated, everything is manipulated”** (the AfD has been claiming for years that the entire republic has conspired against them)
    * **„Crime is higher than ever, Muslims are running around with knives everywhere”** (in fact, the exact opposite is the case)

  5. It’s an unpopular opinion i think, but… such actions can backfire. The AfD really likes to use the role of a “victim”. It is a main strategy of them, claiming “look, how they treat us, despite the fact that we have 20% in the parliament and are the biggest opposition party!”.

    They’ll use every chance they get to present themselves as victims of the “system” and claim, they’d be left out and so, also the voters and the problems would be just ignored.

    Another thing is: Right now, everyone is talking about this on german media websites. If the interview had just been normal, there would have never been the same attention like they get now. Now, everyone knows about it, maybe without this, most people would not have given a shit about the interview.

    It goes for more things, like about a possible ban of the AfD. The other parties always talk about this, but no one has the balls to initiate the process at the BVerfG (supreme court about the constitution). The more the others talk, but don’t take action, the more the people don’t care anymore about this. If you repeat a thing hundreds of times over many years, at some point, the people get tired of it and don’t even listen to you anymore.

    Many say “Initiate the process for a ban and let the BVerfG decide or treat the party like all other parties”

    When i look at the debate culture of Germany, it’s like trench warfare in the mud. The lines don’t move anymore, everyone digged in and hates the other one.

  11. Good! I hope people use democracy and their voices while we still have it. Democracy is fragile as we have seen and these parties are right up there playing with the term. In their terms democracy is ok as long as it favour us…

    So keep fighting!

  12. Btw, in the same interview, when asked if she can name 3 good things about Germany, she said “thats really hard right now”

    If you asked any AfD voter what they think of a politician whos lesbian, married an immigrant, doesnt live in Germany and says theres nothing good to mention about Germany, theyd demand that person to be publicly shamed or imprisoned, but because that politician says “Fuck foreigners”, they dont care
