If America wanted to ensure that BRICS will fast track an alternative to the dollar, this is exactly the way to do it. Turn India against us, and push them right into Chinas hands.

This is not necessarily a big deal. Russian oil will first flow to a third country (one which does not export much to USA so will not be affected by Tariffs) and then from there flow to India. In fact, this already happens a lot. UAE is the middleman with the advantage that UAE themselves export oil, so you can blend Russian oil with UAE oil so its not very clear what is being sold (Indian refineries can refine all sort of oil, so this doesn’t matter). This also allows India to bypass the dollar and trade with Russia in UAE Dirhams so its out of US sanctions regime.
China won’t even bother with doing this. They will just impose a reciprocal tariff against US and US will eventually back down just like it did back in March.
