  1. If I had a nickel every time Letterman backed a Late Night comedian that had his show unfairly cancelled, I’d have two nickels. It’s not a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice

  2. Wasnt the show losing money? Seems like an easy way to get cancelled.

  3. As best I can tell from Reddit, it is complete BS that CBS is canceling Colbert even though the show is losing 10’s of millions a year. Also, from Reddit; it is complete BS that WNBA players want more money when the league is losing 10’s of millions a year.

  4. It’s letterman having a laugh!! He’s not sincere, this is exactly his kind of humor. It also reaffirms his supremacy. He left of his own accord, still wildly popular and profitable. He got to do it his way, with all the respect and dignity of his many years. To see some wannabe like Colbert get the boot after a negligible amount of time in comparison to himself, letterman is absolutely glowing with the light of his own legacy. He’s gloating and nobody realizes it lol!!!! He’s marking his territory and reminding the public of what a timeless icon he is lol!!

  5. Losing $40M a year is reason enough. Foisting the blame on anyone else is gaslighting.

  6. Say what you want about Dave but he is the goat. I remember his political Bill O Reilly interviews where he just owns him over and over again. “Once again I realize I don’t what I’m talking about but..I don’t think you do either”. Neither Colbert, Conan or Ferguson could everp pull this off.

  7. Entertainment loses money. Entertainment ends. Are we sad? Sure, I guess, if you care. Are we surprised? Why would you be?

  8. David “I screw my interns” Letterman used to be great. I watched him faithfully the first ten years of his career, starting when he was a weather man. He was fun. Sometimes silly. Always entertaining. But with time, he became increasingly bitter, and that bitterness began to color his humor. His most famous celebrity interviews were of him being a low-key asshole to the celebrity. It reached the point where I couldn’t watch and enjoy his show because he enjoyed being an asshole too much. I think it’s great that he came out and supported Colbert. But it won’t impact anything. If your the host of a show that is losing money, you might be out of a job before too long.

  9. Is letterman still relevant? I didn’t even know he was still alive.

  10. Letterman can pay his salary then. It doesn’t matter how much you like something if it’s losing money you can it. The late show has cost them 40 million in the last year from what I’ve read.

  11. Glad they are supporting each other. I think it is going to be a good thing that Colbert’s show was cancelled even though CBS is disgusting.

I’m envisioning him and Stewart teaming up and doing something special together. Weird and difficult times such as these give opportunities for change.
