Hate this thing

  1. I ve honestly never understood the hate for these things.i remember reading that plastic bottle caps were, along with cigarette butts, one of the most littered objects in the world. This is an easy way of avoiding that. People are all for saving the environment right up until they are even slightly inconvenienced

  2. Ngl I actually prefer these now to how it was previous, just move it to the side whilst drinking and at least it’s still attached rather than having to unscrew the whole thing and back.

  3. Very easy to just move it to the side, unless somehow you cheeks are further forward than your mouth

  4. Nearly as useless as Keir Starmer (I could use stronger word)

  5. I agree they’re annoying, but when you’ve seen a toddler choking on a loose bottle top it becomes an annoyance you’re more than willing to accept.

  6. Doubly annoying is your brain/muscle memory adapts to that type, expecting the top to stay attached, then you crack open another brand–Buxton, for example–and the top comes right off and lands on the floor. Give me all one or the other, please.

  7. I realise that this can’t possibly be the first time this meme has been made but I’ve never seen it and it feels like those two images were made for each other. Good stuff, good stuff.

  8. It’s a lot easier to drink and drive with those caps attached to the bottle… Down to a tee, can do it all one handed.

Just don’t express support in front of HR, they get concerned.

  9. I dont mind this? I mean if you’re a complete neanderthal and dont know it clicks out the way this thing is fucking insane for long drives.

  10. Never seen the point . If you’re the type of person to litter then you’ll throw away both the bottle and the cap anyway . And if you’re not then you’ll throw away just put it back on when it’s empty and throw them in the bin as one .

  11. It’s fine. Stops people just throwing the cap on the floor, and it doesn’t get in the way that much.

  12. They’re fucking awful, I have to rip it off and it’s still annoying

  13. People are such babies. They’re easy to use even for me, and I have hand and grip difficulties that also cause me to drop my lids a lot, so I love these caps.

    They’re also great for recycling.

    But sure, your minor annoyance…

  14. I actually quite like it. It means that I don’t lose the lid by accident anymore! 🙂

  15. Worst thing is when you think you closed it, but the little fucker didn’t screw back on properly and now your Irn Bru is leaking into your backpack.

  16. Press down on it until one of the fasteners breaks and done… It wont be in the way and wont fly away either.

  17. Just turn it to the side or pull it off, mate. My 6 year old nephew has no issue with it

  18. > how can you be *nearly* headless?

I dunno, maybe you could try hitting them with your car at 38mph?

  19. I genuinely don’t buy these bottles anymore. I’m tired of the drink pouring down my chin onto my shirt.

Maybe that’s the point! So, in that respect, I’m helping the environment!

  20. I hate it, too. I’ve never littered. I wasn’t brought up that way. I find that with being disabled I can’t put the lids back on properly, so I end up cutting them off.

    We are making people stupid.

  21. This is why I bite it off, it’s such a pig to use oc

  22. I hate these things as much as everyone else. I do recycle responsibly and they just end up pouring some liquid down my face.

So it was really weird that I only came to the revelation this week, ‘You know it’s not nailed on. It’s really easy to break off’.

Something in the British obedience to rules? That I never thought of doing that before – and that Social Media is filled with constant hate towards this by people who haven’t come to the same realisation…or won’t do it!

  23. The only problem with them (and it’s a biggie) is that they drip sticky liquid on you from the lid when you take a sip.
The litter reduction benefit doesn’t help me personally; I like to crush the bottle and then screw the lid on before binning/recycling it.

  24. We wouldn’t need that kind of crap if ppl knew how to properly throw bottle and cap in the bin.
But also I don’t get it why ppl waste energy on hating on that is a fucking protection against moron and those who pretend we don’t need it just freaking look how bad British ppl are in the summer in a public park.

  25. They’re a lot easier to deal with if you pull off only one of the tabs holding it on. It sits a lot looser on the neck but stays attached for convenience

  26. On holiday from the states atm. Love these things, wish we had them

  27. I swear these lids are a real life IQ test for some people

  28. Since the change I no longer end up with pockets full of bottle tops (parents know) so I’m all for it personally.

  29. Yeah.. So how’s that whole Brexit thing working out? Oh.. All your stuff is still made in the EU, or to EU standards? Fucking LOL.

  30. Love people complaining about leaving the lid attached but ignoring the change to the shape on the outer section that tears the palm of your hand open with those huge ridges

  31. I genuinely don’t understand people having such negative reactions to a bottle lid being attached 😂 it’s not that hard to clip down out of the way

Or am I just used to water bottles having these from Costco…

  32. The ones they use now are much much better than the flimsy sharp ones they used last year!
